Description wina Gevelli Zvari Saperavi Qvervi
Saperavi Qvevri is a wine made in clay-buried amphorae in accordance with the ancient Georgian method listed as a UNESCO National Cultural Heritage Site, dating back to 6000 BC. The wine is made from hand-harvested and selected grapes for the Saperavi grape variety sourced exclusively from the Cakheti vineyards of Gevelli (Tsinandali appellation). Fermentation and an initial 6-month aging takes place with the stalks, skins and seeds of the grapes, after which the wine is filtered and transferred to a steel tank where it is aged for another 2 months until the aromas are laid down. The wine takes on a very dark berry color and shows complex aromas of ripe forest fruits, dried plums and spices. The taste is harmonious, tannic and elegant with a long, palate-pleasing finish.
