Description wina Gevelli Zvari Kakhuri Qvervi – orange
Kakhuri Qvevri is a wine made in buried clay amphorae in accordance with the ancient Georgian method listed as a UNESCO National Cultural Heritage Site, dating back to 6000 BC. The wine is made from hand-harvested and selected grapes behind the Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane varietals, sourced exclusively from the Cakheti vineyards of Gevelli (Tsinandali appellation). Fermentation and an initial 6-month aging takes place with the stalks, skins and seeds of the grapes, after which the wine is filtered and transferred to a steel tank where it is aged for another 2 months until the aromas are laid down. The wine then takes on a beautiful amber color and shows complex fruit notes, among others. Ripe pear, dried fruits, nuts and field flowers. The taste is full and balanced with a long pleasant and strong-tannic finish.
